Whitetail Deer Management

   We currently have 14 free choice protein and nutrition feeders and 14 corn feeders.  We have also recently included a clover food plot and will soon be fertilizing 
all our Oak Trees to maximize acorn production this season.
   We have already seen good results from our efforts and with in the next few years, we expect the results to be outstanding.  10 Mile Ranch is located on 3,400 acres of land, but during the first year 1,700 acres are involved in our aggressive deer management program.  However, in 2004 the entire 3,400 will be in the program. 

Turkey & Quail Management

   At 10 Mile Ranch we have also gotten more aggressive with the management of our Bobwhite Quail and the Rio Grande Turkey populations.  Admittedly, we have always had fairly liberal amounts of Turkey on the ranch, but in the past we have not seen large numbers of the Bobwhite Quail.  Since we have removed all the livestock from the ranch we have in effect increased amount and height of grass on the ranch.  This, combined with brush management, Quail habitat creation and aggressive predator control program has caused a significant increase in the amount of Quail present on the ranch.
